It's a real pain to use on Windows even though that's the only driver they make. I don't have any information on the internal language used by this printer, but most label printers use non-standard printing languages. Given that it uses an inkjet internally, though, it's possible that it would accept ESC/P2. Does the printer have a way from the front panel to print a test page? Usually the test page will consist of blocks of each color, where each block consists of several rows of short dashes. If it does, I need to know how many rows of each color there are, and how many dashes per row. I also need to know whether the color blocks are aligned horizontally, or are offset from one another. -- Robert Krawitz <rl...@al...> *** MIT Engineers A Proud Tradition http://mitathletics.com *** Member of the League for Programming Freedom -- http://ProgFree.org Project lead for Gutenprint -- http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net "Linux doesn't dictate how I work, I dictate how Linux works." --Eric Crampton |

Good evening. On your web page http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/p_Supported_Printers.php I found that my printers - Canon PIXMA iP7250 - Epson Stylus SX200 be supported. But I can't find where to download the drivers. I'm using Linux MX18.3, 64bit, debian 9 based - see https://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=mx Unfortunately I am still quite new with Linux and in some things still helpless. I am grateful for any advice. Greetings Karl Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator |

Even though I delete 5.2.11 version... How did you install 5.2.14? I'm suspecting you did so from source, but did not have the CUPS development packages installed, so when you built Gutenprint, it did not include support for CUPS. Dear Gutenprint Developer, Hello, This is Guan Jeong from Korea. I'm trying to install Epson SC-P600 Driver on Linux on Ubuntu 16.04 using Gutenprint. First, I installed Gutneprint 5.2.11 and R3000 driver instead of P600 driver using localhost:631. I can print test page or normal file using 'lp -d <printername><file> command. Could you tell me the reason why it is work? Second, I tried to SC-P600 driver using Gutenprint 5.2.14 but It installed v5.2.11 I attached a photo(Photo.JPG). After that, I can't print file because of PPD version compatible error. I attached a photo(Photo1.JPG). Even though I delete 5.2.11 version... I tried to solve this problem using update the PPD version https://disloops.com/ppd-and-gutenprint-on-ubuntu-16-04/ But it didn't work. Do you have any suggestion? I want to use Gutenprint program for single nozzle access program to DNA synthesis Thank you, Guan Jeong |

While generally speaking I've tried to keep the intermediate spool format of the various dyesub models compatible between Gutenprint+CUPS and the vendor Windows drivers, due to historical/legacy resons, the various DNP models, the Gutenprint+CUPS does not use the same intermediate format. Indeed, the Windows DNP drivers' intermediate spool format is not something the printer accepts. At this time, the CUPS backend does not understand this format either, though recent technical improvements in the backend make rectifying this possible. So "native windows, raw Samba" wont' work. So unless the Windows system prints to the CUPS queue natively; that is to say it submits the jobs via IPP or LPD, and uses a CUPS-compatible origin data format (eg PDF or PWGraster), things aren't going to work. Hello, On Jun 2 21:04 Peter Bischofberger wrote (excerpt): > - raspberry pi 3b+ (raspbian) with cups ... > following this guide: > https://pimylifeup.com/raspberry-pi-print-server/ this guide looks as if there is a printer model specific driver installed both on the CUPS server system and also on the Windows client system. Normally this cannot work because now two drivers (first the one on the Windows client system and then the other one on the CUPS server system) are run one after the other. > - connected printer is: DNP DS-620 (testpage printed from inside cups works) > - windows 10 client, printer installed with this scheme: > http://192.168.1.121:631/printers/DS620 > > when trying to print a page via windows, > it shows on raspberry cups interface under jobs: > > canceled at > Sun Jun 2 20:44:51 2019 > "Unrecognized header data format @0!" This seems to prove what I wrote above. The "Unrecognized header data format @0!" seems to come from the printer specific data that was produced by the Windows driver. For background information see https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Printing_from_Windows_to_Linux Therein see the section "Using Samba and CUPS" that talks about how to enforce "raw" printing for Samba via "cups options = raw" in /etc/samba/smb.conf which seems to be missing in https://pimylifeup.com/raspberry-pi-print-server/ as far as I see. If you still have problems with the uninstaller, go to /Library/Printers/./Library/Printers/Gutenprint.printerDriver folder and all active components will be removed. That is the Library at the root level of your hard disk. There will be a few aliases installed that point back to items in that folder that will still installed. They can safely left behind and will cause no problems. As long as it uses the same environment variable interface (STP_PARALLEL, STP_TEST_ROTOR, STP_TEST_ROTOR_CIRCUMFERENCE), the implementation doesn't matter. It should also handle STP_TEST_PROFILE, which is full, fast, valgrind, checksums, minimal, valgrind_minimal, and valgrind_fast. Any profile that doesn't make sense (e. g. checksums) you should return status 77 from your script (that's what the GNU test framework uses to mean skipped). Figure on the minimal suites shouldn't take more than 1-2 minutes of CPU time, the fast ones should be in the 5 minute range, and full can be whatever you want (within reason). >> Would it be useful to have an option emit printer data streams, or >> are those simply the unprocessed data from the driver with some out >> of band protocol that can't be captured as a data stream? Dear developer, I am trying to setup a small print server on a raspberry pi. Setup: - raspberry pi 3b+ (raspbian) with cups fully updated following this guide: https://pimylifeup.com/raspberry-pi-print-server/ <https://pimylifeup.com/raspberry-pi-print-server/> - connected printer is: DNP DS-620 (testpage printed from inside cups works) - windows 10 client, printer installed with this scheme: http://192.168.1.121:631/printers/DS620 <http://192.168.1.121:631/printers/DS620> when trying to print a page via windows, it shows on raspberry cups interface under jobs: canceled at Sun Jun 2 20:44:51 2019 "Unrecognized header data format @0!" However no Problems printing directly on raspberry. Same Problem as described in this post I suppose: https://github.com/apple/cups/issues/5422 <https://github.com/apple/cups/issues/5422> Thank you for you time and this project. Really grateful I can run my DNP printer on Linux. Best regards, Peter |

Epson publicshed the docs for their ESC/Label language which covers the TM-C7500-series of printers, but they don't claim that the TM-C3500 series is covered. I don't think so; most of the time the data going out is substantially similar to what goes in, but the backend has to do a bunch of interactive stuff to make sure it's okay to send the raster data and handle errors that inevitably pop up. That said, emulating the printer would be substantially usful, but it's really hard to justify that level of effort. :) - Solomon -- Solomon Peachy pizza at shaftnet dot org Coconut Creek, FL ^^ (email/xmpp) ^^ Quidquid latine dictum sit, altum videtur. |

What operating system or application are you targeting here, and what sort of functionality are you looking for? These printers are typically custom-programmed to generate application-specific output using the printer's featureset (eg barcodes, directly rendering text, etc) rather than as a dumb raster output device that would be the norm with a traditional OS-level printer driver. It looks like Epson doesn't provide programming documentaiton for this particular model, and given that generic ESC/POS doesn't support full-color printing, without some assistance from Epson writing any sort of non-Windows driver for this thing is likely to be a difficult undertaking. - Solomon -- Solomon Peachy pizza at shaftnet dot org Coconut Creek, FL ^^ (email/xmpp) ^^ Quidquid latine dictum sit, altum videtur. |

Hello! I’d like to know how to remove Gutenprint 5.2.11 from my Mac OS X 10.11.6 (El Capitan). I upgraded my printer using the manufacturer’s driver, which is why I am requesting removal instructions. I did find a Gutenprint Uinstaller script, located here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-print/files/Uninstaller%20-%20Mac%20OS%20X%20ONLY/2.0/ <https://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-print/files/Uninstaller%20-%20Mac%20OS%20X%20ONLY/2.0/> When I ran it, it gave a ‘directory not found’ error, so I terminated the script. Thank you! Regards, Alfred |

By now, probably. I'm trying to get a snapshot build up and running on my system (with the Ryzen 2700X I have plenty of spare computrons). This weekend's going to be wiped out for me what with a wedding and surrounding festivities, but I did manage to bang out a quick script to at least get things started.
