The GIMP-specific code should be isolated in src/gimp, which is about
1000 lines of code total.  There will probably need to be some changes
in gutenprintui2 to handle additional input types, but that probably
won't be too extensive.  Always a dangerous thing to say.

Out of curiousity, how is this stuff coming along?

I recently ran into problems when trying to use the gimp plugin with a 
"32-bit linear floating point" image generated by darktable -- the 
preview and resulting print are far too dark, due to the linearity.  It 
seems GIMP doesn't automagically do the right thing (is there always a 
right thing?) with respect to linearity for legacy plugins; even the 
thumbnail isn't getting rendered properly.

The TIFF export plugin provides a good template of what we'd need to do 
to enable the full suite of what gutenprint supports (ie 8bpp nonlinear 
and 16bpp linear/nonlinear, plus RGB vs CMY[K]!) but that will require 
reworking the entire plugin flow to use APIs introduced in Gimp 2.10, 
with no sane backwards-compatible path..

You should be able to select Custom paper size and input the actual
size of this page -- can you check that, please?

[Gimp-print-devel] Missing Paper Size on Ricoh Africo MP C2500

Good Morning,

currently we working with the copy station "ricoh africo mp c2500" and
a up-to-date manjaro linux at our company.

We run into some unsolvable problems regarding the standard pcl drivers
and where able to solve them by switching to your gutenprint drivers.

But there is one big problem with the driver. It has no option to
choose "DIN A6" as paper size. We urgently need this because of our dpd
label prints.

Is it possible to add the paper size to the drivers?
I tried it myself and added the required lines to the ppd but it did
not worked :)
I've never changed a ppd file and I'm sure I made mistakes.

Could you send me the correct lines for the ppd or updated driver
please?

I've made the basic changes for 5.3.4 (configure.ac, README, NEWS).
Solomon and Gernot, could you please update the NEWS file, as all of
the changes since 5.3.3 appear to be in the dyesub and Canon drivers.

(I'm in the middle of some dental procedures and will be spending
 every weekend this month getting a neglected rental property

If you want a new release, let's do a proper 5.3.4.  If it doesn't

Hello!

I’m trying out your software for use with an addressing printer: AS-930 that supports PCL and uses TCP port 9100.

I got it working without too much hassle.

It will be coupled to a FileMaker/Claris server solution that will do the printing through mac clients.

I’ve set it up choosing Generic PCL 6 wide margin LF + Gutenprint 5.3.3 on High Sierra/Mojave.

We will use it to print in black ink, just a couple of rows of text turned 180 degrees (upside down) on folded printed broschures.

So nothing fancy.


But I have this question: Will you be able to convert and compile the code to 64-bit clean for Catalina macOS 10.15.x?

The usual words that don't make your life any easier -- Works for me.  I set up the Sony printer through the standard Mac Printers & Scanners system preference.  I had to choose my WorkForce 1100 to get to the point of choosing the CUPS + Gutenprint 5.3.3 model.   I opened an e-mail and looked at the print window.  Only the papers that I would expect for that printer appear.  See attached screenshot.

I also was able to print a CUPS test page to my WorkForce 1100 through the CUPS web interface.  All this was done on a 2018 MacBook Pro running macos 10.14.6

a separate problem, presumably a regression in the backend.

To try and triage that I the user to try the 5.2.15 installer, and might 
go back to 5.2.13 as I think that's when I had positive confirmation of 
the UP-DR200 working (albeit under Linux)

Do you have a driver for the above referenced printer? Since upgrading my Mac to Catalina I get filter failure error and no help thus far from Canon. Any help, advise is appreciated.

i Regularly check your site with updates if there is a driver for a canon TS5150. 
But i can’t find. 
Is there a driver i can try to make this printer up and running on OSX 10.6.8?

Digging into the sniffs, there are a few discoveries:

 * USB VID/PID (yay!)
 * PJL commands (vs PDL payloads) need to be sent in separate bulk URBs
   (and job spool wrapper bits need to be stripped)
 * My notes (and sample files) don't exactly match the contents of the 
   sniffs (Further analysis is needed..)
 * Printer status apparently reported via extended IEEE1284 response
   (via control rather than bulk URBs)

That last item is the most interesting.  And a custom backend is 
definitely needed here.  Back in April I started to write one but it 
clearly needs further work before it's ready for use.

With the printer plugged into the Linux system, can you run these two 
commands for me (as root) and send me the output?  (off-list, please)

 lsusb -v
 /usr/lib/cups/backend/usb
