Hi, i was wondering if your drivers support HP CP1025 for my mac os Catalina? Thank you and please let me know as this printer always shows filter failed during printing since my catalina os upgrade. Best Regards, Jonz |

I seem to recall that an "m" in the model name indicates a Post Script printer. It also supports several other HP protocols. You can find a basic Post Script PPD on the OpenPrinting site. That should give you basic capabilities when printing. To take full advantage of all the printer can do, you could try the HPLIP package on Linux. There is also a Mac OS X package that should work at least through OS X 10.5. I can find no other information as to whether it will support any higher version of OS X. -- Matt |

If you'd like to open a branch in git to start your work, please feel free (we're pretty informal about the process here). Hello, I am Sambhav Dusad, an undergraduate from IIT Mandi, India. I am currently working with OpenPrinting as GSoC'20 student. I started contributing to OpenPrinting from Jan 2020. My task in GSoC is to make Printer Applications more configurable. Now, I have also started working on the Gutenprint Printer Application. Hope to get help from you. -- Sambhav |

Another option for printing via wifi is to use the 'selphy_go' tool. [1] I don't know if it works on the CP1300, as it uses a custom canon protocol that may or may not still be present, but it allows arbitrary jpeg files to be printed via the cmdline, including bordered/borderless. I have done some more testing today and the only way I have found to get a borderless printout on the CP1300 from Linux is to use Turboprint (which I already use anyway) as it supports a USB connection for the CP1300. None of the options in normal CUPS/Gutenprint work to allow borderless printing. Sadly Turboprint does not support wireless printing using the CP1300. If anyone has any ideas as to how to progress getting CUPS etc to properly support borderless printing please let me know. Solomon I am printing via wi-fi. There seem to be two options when setting this up, one uses ipp everywhere and the other says something about driverless cups-filters 1.27.2 and I've tried both and neither print borderless and I've been unable to find any obvious option. There is nothing about print scaling on the ipp one but I've just noticed one for print scaling on the driverless which allows several options Automatic, Auto-Fit, Fill, Fit and None so I'll try these in the morning and see what happens. I'd guess on Fill first. What I dont understand is why they don't simply have Borderless? Hi Robert and Matt, Thanks for your assistance. I had previously tried that HP download package from the Apple site along with the 4.1 version that preceded it. While it does give the computer enough information for OSX to recognize what printer it is (and even get an HP utility to read status information from it), I have not been able to get it to print by any type of automatic or manual install, IP network, Apple's Bonjour, etc. It sees it, it knows what it is: it just won't send a print. I've tried several other HP laser drivers and have gotten a few to "print," but the printer doesn't understand the signals and only prints code. If it used a proprietary protocol, that would certainly explain the issue. It's not the end of the world if it turns out to be a lost cause on my Macs... I still have a Windows machine on hand that can run it. Thankfully I didn't buy it new: most of the forum/support posts I've run into are original purchasers who woke up one day after an update to find that their printer is now a fancy paperweight. Worse yet, most of the replies are snarky technocrat responses that are less about helping someone and more about chastising them for wanting their older device to work (as if they shouldn't be upset about HP and/or Apple killing off a 5-10 year old printer that cost $800-$1000). Thanks for the info and your time - I truly appreciate it. In the event I stumble over a solution, I'll be sure to share it. Thanks again, Colton On Sun, Aug 2, 2020 at 12:05 PM Matt Broughton <wal...@ma...> wrote: > > > On Aug 2, 2020, at 11:07 AM, Robert Krawitz <rl...@al...> wrote: > > On 7/6/20 12:03 PM, Proud Texan wrote: > > Hello, > > I was hoping that you all might be able to help with a particular issue > I've run into. Hi, Unfortunately, I don't think we're likely to support this printer. It's a specialized label printer that what I can glean from the specifications probably doesn't support standard Epson printing languages. Unfortunately, I don't have any other solutions handy, but perhaps someone else does. |

Unfortunately, it appears that this printer doesn't use the standard printing language for printers of this type (PCL); it instead uses a proprietary JetReady protocol, which we don't have a way to support. Perhaps someone else will have other ideas, but I don't have a good answer for you. |

Hi, Unfortunately, we don't have anybody to work on drivers for PCL printers. You could try one of the other DesignJet printers in Gutenprint (in monochrome mode), but we can't promise it will work. |

I have just obtained a Canon CP1300 to replace my CP900. I tested it thoroughly prior to connecting to my Tumbleweed system running Gutenprint 5.2.15. I have used CUPS to detect the printer and define it as a printer using the IPP option (wirelessly) and while it does print OK the issue I have is that I have not (yet) found a way to get my printouts borderless. Initially I used Postcard as the paper size but this comes out with borders giving an image of about 87x136 mm, so I changed to a custom size defined as 100x148 mm and tried again, this time printing the image at 94x135 mm. If I print the image from Windows then the actual printed image is 100x152 mm the extra 4 mm allows the image to print over the perforations. So my question is how can I get linux to print on the CP1300 using borderless as I can do when printing from Android, Windows or offline from an SD card? There does not seem to be an option for this in CUPS at least not that I've found. Stuart -- Website: https://www.stella-maris.org.uk or: https//www.broadstairs.org |
