I have just checked the HP site and they list a driver for this printer for MacOS 11, which I believe is Big Sur: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-4620-e-all-in-one-printer-series/5101229/model/5101234 David Kurtz via Gimp-print-devel wrote: > Matt; > Thanks for getting back to me. Hi David, I have no experience with Macs, but this printer uses the PCL3 enhanced language and so you should get some degree of printing support if you choose an option under "Generic", instead of "HP". Scanning is not supported by Gutenprint, so you will need to look elsewhere for possible support. David Kurtz via Gimp-print-devel wrote: > Matt; > Thanks for getting back to me. There is a bug when the Epson XP-15000 Series driver is used on the Mac platform. Using the pop-up menus and choosing "Printer Features" is a dead end. It is totally blank -- no options are displayed. For some reason, the options are not expanding properly. I'll try to dig into it as time permits. Matt |

Could I just double check with you that the xp-15000 you cite is the Photo HD XP-15000? The 1284 in Gutenprint's ppd shows MFG:EPSON;CMD:ESCPL2. I'm being a bit paranoid here. If I need to get a new wide format Epson printer, I want to know it will work with Gutenprint or I won't be able to test the releases. Thanks for all your help. As a side note, I did discover a bug on macos 13.x for the xp-15000 series. The options won't expand in the print window. Looks like I have some more work to do. I could not find what printer language the printer uses. I did find a listing for your printer on the openprinting.org site. They list it as a "paperweight". The printer must use some language that no one has reverse engineered. Matt |

Hi, I’m sure I’m not the first to ask, but is there any chance that there are drivers coming for Mac Big Sur? I’ve got a Lexmark X2670 all-in-one that has been a great workhorse for me but with the upgrade to Big Sur it no longer works. Lexmark is no help, their website has no drivers for anything past OS X 10.9. Thanks, Eric Terhaar |

In building support for the XP-15000 it was discovered that the printer also accepts some or most ESC/P2 language even though it’s rated as ESCP/R. Here’s hoping newer Epson printers down the line do as well. Hello; My new computer is running MacOS Big Sur. I have an older HP printer connected to it via USB. It no longer works. HP has not updated their drivers. Apple has no solution. I checked gimp-print website for MacOS. Do you have any reports of gutenprint-5.3.3 addressing that problem? Thanks, David K |
