I have a suggestion/request, not really for a feature:
a ppd file for ghostscript, to generate "generic"
postscript, while having access to at least some of the
options that a ppd can provide (rather, define).
I currently use the Distiller ppd for this, but there
are some problems with that. One of those is the fact
that the actual Distiller printer has almost no
resident fonts. Ghostscriptt does, in a sense.
Posting a question on Adobe's user-to-user forum has
until now given mostly negative experiences. For
example, my recent question there why the Adobe
postscript driver (adobeps) seems to add a Euro glyph
to a (resident) font while I told it not to, got the
reply "don't change the list of
fonts-defined-as-resident in the ppd". Pretty useless,
and my answer is still unanswered. I suggest it is time
somebody writes a ppd file tailored for ghostscript.
And then registers it with Adobe :)
