I like to have the beep when the code proofreader makes a change, but I find the beep itself too annoying. I'd rather a much quieter and shorter sound. Could there be an option added for the user to specify a sound file for this beep?
I could not find a way to move this ticket from "Bugs" to "Feature request", so the attached patch still has the bug number. Enjoy!
(tested with Delphi 2007, XE3 and 10.3 Rio)

Could you also please submit an example "beep" file? One that you think is better than the original beep? I would like to put it into the installer to demonstrate how to use this.

Finding a free-to-redistribute sound is very difficult. So I made a short sample using Audacity. It's basically a "9" DTFM tone for 0.3 seconds, with a short attack and fading out for 0.2 seconds.
Rather than put it into the installer, suggest that they try one of the sound files that comes with Windows, in the "C:\Windows\Media" folder.
I tried "Windows Navigation Start.wav" file which I think I'm right in saying has been provided with Windows since at least as far back as XP, so presumably all GExpert users would have access to it. However, I felt that this was too soft for my environment.
"Windows Start-up" is better, but may not be found in older versions of Windows. "Windows XP start" and "Windows Vista start" are similar, but louder, but may suit some people (but don't confuse them with "Windows XP startup" and "Windows Vista startup", which are not suitable).
"Windows Pop-up Blocked" or the slightly-different XP and Vista versions are a bit louder and may be preferable.
Good idea. I will provide a patch for this.

More usable implementation...
Thanks Achim!

Yes, thanks Achim!

if people want to try something more than what they already have installed, one of the first sites I found when Googling ( https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/spice-windows-sound-effects-amazing-resources/listed) lists five different sites for sound files.
