Initial Comment:
GtkObject is deprecated in GTK+2 and doesn't exist in GTK+3.

This patch replaces all GTK_OBJECT() casts and GtkObject pointers.

To be applied on top of patch #3495404 ("Remove deprecated GTK+ signal functions").
