This is a feature rather than a bug, albeit one to which the users of FreeMind 0.8.1 need to get used.
To enter a newline in the plain-text long node editor in FreeMind 0.9.0, you can press SHIFT + ENTER instead of CONTROL + ENTER. In FreeMind 0.8.1, you could press CONTROL + ENTER to do the same, which no longer works in 0.9.0. The combination ALT + ENTER always confirms the edits, regardless whether you are in the plain text editor or in the rich text editor.

I am assuming that you have the option "Enter confirms" on. It is under this option set on that both ENTER and CONTROL + ENTER confirm edits. If the option "Enter confirms" is off, both ENTER and CONTROL + ENTER in FreeMind 0.9.0 enter a newline. --Dan
