The package description of the XGREP package mentions that XGREP is a Unix-like clone of grep and supports regular expressions, but the much more important note that XGREP also allows recursive search is missing.

The GREP version 2.0a in FreeDOS does not allow recursive search, as it lacks the -r parameter.

Only the 32-bit version of GREP from the FreePascal project supports that, but it requires a 32 Bit DOS Extender and does not run on systems older than 386.

The DOS FIND program in FreeDOS also **does not allow recursive search. **

Therefore, XGREP is the only one that allows recursive search and runs in Real Mode on an 8086. That should be mentioned explicitly in the package description.
