I installed freedos 1.2 on a computer (p31) and after the installation it restarts and provides the following error message (see picture). The case is the same with emm386. If run in either emergency or low mode it starts up normally. Tried reinstalling a few times with either "full" or "full with sources" options but it still gives the same result.

By "p31" I assume you mean an AMD motherboard such as the MSI GF615M-P31 AMD Socket AM3 DDR3 SDRAM Desktop Motherboard?

    Two suggestions:

    1. Does the BIOS have a setting for "legacy" or "compatibility" mode? You might turn that on, and see if that fixes the problem. Other users have reported this works for them, but not sure what motherboards they use.

    2. Might also try the fix we recommend for VirtualBox to see if that helps here. When you boot the FreeDOS install CDROM, at the first “Welcome to FreeDOS 1.2” boot menu, press Tab when you’re on “Install to harddisk” and add raw to the kernel command line, then press Enter to boot.

    From this:
    KERNEL /boot/syslinux/memdisk

    To this:
    KERNEL /boot/syslinux/memdisk raw

Hello? Is the original reporter still here? It's been a year since the bug was reported, and commented on to give two suggestions.

Please let us know if either fixes this problem.
