This was a "design decision" to allow the user to just view and/or remove installed packages without needing to insert the USB Stick or CD-ROM. But, It could display a quick note on launch that no package media was found.

You mean all "installed" packages? Or just can't install new ones? Do you still have the CD (.iso) mounted?

Mystery solved. To install applications it is necessary to have the cdrom mounted. A warning message would help to solve it if the CD is not mounted!

I really need to find the time to do some more work on FDIMPLES. Add things like network repositories and such.
The "missing packages" issue has come up a couple times. I pushed 0.9.9 that now displays a message that they weren't located. It also no longer must wait for all package metadata to finish loading before moving to the changing to a different package. Available from my repo at https://fd.lod.bz/repos/current/pkg-html/fdimples.html or the offical repo at http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/distributions/1.2/repos/pkg-html/fdimples.html . Also, if you have networking support you can just update by using fdnpkg update.
Thank you so much! it works great!
