Hello,

i'm new to freedos and want to use it to backup some old date - so i installed it on an older computer. Everything works fine until i want to have access to the floppy. Freedos could'nt read any floppy (3 1/2 and 5 1/4) or format them. I got several errors like time-outs, int 13 errors and so on with different computers.

The format command show the correct specifications of the floppy - but it doesn't work.
Often it says it has problems while writing the first 7 bytes.

When i'm using msdos 6.22 everything works.

best regards, Axel

Try using "/q /u" or "/f:1440" instead, and see if that helps.

FD has an updated format command 0.92. I know that this question is extremely late, but can the bug be reproduced with a newer FD version - if possible, could you try the latest version at:
    https://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/distributions/test/ (actual FDT2408, FDT2409 should come out in 09/2024)?
Was it a built-in diskette drive?
