Hi, I was experimenting with the -server help parameter to get more information about server options as per the manual, but get the following - C:\Users\ColucciW\Desktop>CD C:\Program Files (x86)\freecol C:\Program Files (x86)\freecol>java -Xmx512M -jar FreeCol.jar -server help The server cannot be made public as it could not connect to the metaserver. Hi, I can only get the multiplayer server to run when I initially start up a game. If I save a game and try to get it to run again, the server service doesn't seem to respond - the port 3541 doesn't respond and no connection is possible. Hello, I have a MAC with OSX 10.6. It cannot run a java runtime version higher than 1.6. To run Freecol you need at least java 1.7. Is there a work around for this incompatibility/ Thank you |

Hi All, When I tried to open FreeCol after downloading it I got the error message that I attached. At the time I had version 1.6 of Java, then I updated to 1.7 and it still didn’t work, then 1.8 and it still didn’t work. Has anyone else had this issue? Is it a bug? I tried redownloading both FreeCol, Java, and restarted my computer, and had no luck. -malsing |

FreeCol 0.11.0 The FreeCol team are pleased to announce the release of FreeCol 0.11.0. This release is mainly an opportunity for the developers to fix some difficult structural problems that were blocking progress. That said, there are many useful new user visible features, listed in the release notes (https://sourceforge.net/p/freecol/wiki/0.11.0%20Release%20Notes/). And lots of bugs were fixed. In particular, we had an intractable cluster of bugs that could not be fixed without making an incompatible change to the saved game format and dropping the 0.9.x compatibility code. Therefore, this is 0.11.0, not 0.10.8, and 0.9.x games will no longer load correctly. The hope is that this is the last save-format break before 1.0. Given the large changes and long gap since the last release, the next release is likely to be a maintenance/bugfix release to tidy up problems that were missed in testing. More people testing the git/trunk would be most welcome. We hope you enjoy FreeCol 0.11.0. Onward to 1.0. The FreeCol Team |

I just upgraded my Mac (2.7 GHz i5, OS 10.9.1), downloaded and installed a fresh freecol (0.10.7), and quickly discovered the following peculiar behavior: In the “town” window, I can’t drag-and-drop anything. I can’t move a colonist to a different building or land square, and I can’t move goods to or from a ship. I click on (say) the sugar-cane icon, and it responds by getting slightly bigger, as I would expect… but dragging it into the hold of the ship doesn’t do anything. Has anybody else seen this? The goal of this thesis is to create a tool to automatically categorize source code in open source software. Different categories will be "test code", "generated code" and "productive code" to better evaluate and use the results of quality-check techniques. Hi Michael, Thanks for the reply. I tested it out a couple of hours ago on a Mountain Lion 10.8.4 and it worked perfectly, but on my 10.7.5 it behaves as I explained in my previous email. I'll test it again today and will check the Log file. Yesterday I tried to give it a go with the installed JavaVMs, 1.5 and 1.6, I will provide more details on the VMs versions and also trying it out with Java 1.7. I was also getting some errors on the command line output that are the same as the ones shown here: http://forum.processing.org/topic/java-errors But there they say that it's harmless and it should work even though there's errors, but it's curious that the OS X is the same and on 10.8 is works fine. Hi I was recently introduced to FreeCol, I've always loved Colonization and Civilization and I'd love to revisit the game and have some fun. I downloaded the mac version and tried to run, but it seems that the windows e totally unresponsive, I can see the intro video but I can't skip it, and even after adding the -no-intro in the command line I'm presented with the menu but then I'm not able to select any menu item nor interact with it. The only way I have to quit the game is to command+q. I also tried to clone the git repo, but the problem remains after running ant and java -jar FreeCol.jar, so either there's a problem with my installation or with the game itself. Is this a known issue ? How can I help debugging ? Thanks |

Hello all, I've seen this error before.... ..only I don't remember how I got over it. Not able to start a new game or load a saved one. "cannot connect to server" at first then "server all ready running on port, do you want me to stop it" (or such) followed by same error. a timeout ? I'm running Debian stable, same error from debian package (0.10.5) with openjdk6, fresh installs, and latest SF download (0.10.7) using openjdk7. Looked in forum and bugs, on freecol and SF. Maybe a FAQ for recurring issues, or is this issue specific to me ? cheers all, blf |
