I've noticed that FontForge (built from sources of 22/8) is not compatible with Xgl/Compiz. This is not terribly important, since Compiz at present is in the "cute toy" category: but it may be a problem at some time in the future, when it becomes more standard. Here are the issues: Under Xgl alone, some buttons in the Toolkit are blacked out; so are some of the information strings at the top of an editing window. Menus operate very slowly. Under Compiz and Xgl, the above is true, and: all windows become semi-transparent and text and graphics are very light and hard to see. Same with menus and dialog boxes. I imagine that all this will resolve itself after the eventual migration to GTK. I'm not sure it's worth wasting time on at this point, but thought I should report it. Peter |
