So I finally migrated by daily FoFRedux to the newest SVN release (I was old skool and just testing out the new releases on simple sets). So I'm starting to run into some bugs: When adding a category: Fatal error: mysql error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '('px_categories_id_seq')' at line 1] in EXECUTE("select currval('px_categories_id_seq')") Error performing database operation, Maybe you need to run the installer. in /home/.parable/highearth/code.highearthorbit.com/public/fofredux/fofredux/lib/model/base.php on line 251 -- Andrew Turner ajt...@hi... 42.4266N x 83.4931W http://highearthorbit.com Northville, Michigan, USA |

Here is the old bookmarklet from FoF that should still work. I'll see about adding it back to the repo, but here it is for your edification. Of course, this assume one has the RSS Autodiscovery link set in their page. Ok - I hooked myself up to some coffee this morning and got through a bunch of work on the UI redesign. There is still a lot to be done. The current stuff starts restructuring the html to better fit the design, and adding css classes/id's, and css markup. I've also started splitting out "repeated" view blocks, such as a feed item. So as the loop iterates over all items, it includes view/feed_item.php. The idea is to make these sections smaller and easier to manipulate and pull in to other sections. Once the HTML & CSS is in better shape, we can start tying in better Javascript functionality. I'm going to compare: Dojo, MooFX, and Prototype. Anyone want to chime in & give reasoning to another JS framework? Since there is so much rework of code, etc. happening, I've made a branch for the redesign. There is a lot of functionality that was pulled out that won't currently work (marking items, adding feeds via the panel page) so don't use this branch as your working copy. svn co https://svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/fofredux/fofredux/branches/UIREDESIGN uiredesign Andrew -- Andrew Turner ajt...@hi... 42.4266N x 83.4931W http://highearthorbit.com Northville, Michigan, USA |

Well, I don't know about that. But I usually would not do a "mark all read" in my normal DB, but since I had a test DB set up now I can do whatever I need to it for testing and not worry about losing data. So I tried it and it did not work. -Miles |

This function does not work for me in the 0704 snapshot. This is similar to the "mark as read" function that when clicked would just refresh the page. When clicking on the "mark all read" from the panel the page refreshes and nothing is marked as read. All the feeds should be marked as read. Thanks for finding and fixing the options problem where feeds were not displayed. -Miles |

Andrew, You don't need to make it look pretty, just present the building blocks, I can jump into it after that and mess around with all of that to be honest, like tweaking the fonts and colour and what have you. Structure wise I think I was on the right track with my previous version however I couldn't get some of it sorted so if that's been sorted out I could jump back into it? Slow - I have the login page done ;) Khaled's redesign is in mostly image format and needs to be finished the migration to XHTML & CSS. I know CSS, but I'm not great at CSS, so it's a little slow going. If someone knows & is good at CSS, given an existing design, then speak up. We can split up the work some. Once the full design is in HTML/CSS, then it will be a lot quicker to split it up into template sections and tie in the PHP calls. Yeah same here, been getting a few emails about this and a couple of comments on my site... I've just got myself sorted more or less with my linux box so I should be able to start cracking on with the design of the new site as well...not going to promise dates or anything but hopefully it should be up and ready to go when we're about to launch version 0.4, should we start calling the releases something as well? I think we should name them after warner bros cartoons :). First one can be Daffy Duck. Let me see if I understand. You checked the option: "list only feeds with unread items". It only shows one feed with unread items instead of several. Did you run install.php from the new snapshot? I've added a few things to the db recently. I don't recommend running two different versions of FOFR against the same DB. It should be safe to read/mark read from the older version, but *do not* run update on the older version. -Kevin |

Using today's snapshot I was catching up on feeds. I had caught up on most of my feeds with the exception of one that has several hundred artciles in it which I will leave for later. I have a cron job to update FoFRedux every half hour. I checked to see if there was anything new and it only showed the one feed. I then de-selected this option and then there were six feeds showing articles. So in short, if I use the option "only one feed is shown" I see one feed. If I de-select the option six feeds are shown with articles. I was using the database on the snapshot and a my regular install of FoFRedux, which may not be the best way to test a snapshot but I have never seen this problem happen before doing that. -Miles |

Agreed - this isn't typical, so I don't think we want to modify the database scheme at this point. It should be a noted problem (troubleshooting on the fofredux site), and maybe marked as a feature request with really low priority. :) The sol'n would be to make the columns TEXT. I'm not sure of all the implications, but I imagine it would make your database be potentially much larger. I'm sure Evan will know what order-DB that makes it. :) Andrew On 6/29/06, Miles Beck <mil...@gm...> wrote: > > > > On 6/29/06, Kevin <ke...@dr...> wrote: > > I think the problem is that feed is riddled with really long URLs.
