FYI - I've just pushed a change that should improve performance
significantly.  Thanks to Fernando for the suggestion.

If you want to try it, you will need to compile topics/volumetrics_clouds2
branch of simgear and flightgear, and also use the
topics/volumetrics_clouds2 branch of fgdata.

It's not on next yet.  There is currently an occasional crash when
changing weather scenarios that I've not been able to pin down despite a
lot of looking. If anyone wants to take a look they are very welcome.
