[Flightgear-users] No panel or keyboard

Hello,
This is my first post to the list. I had downloaded fgfs 0.7.6 and compiled and had great fun with it.
I decided to try the newest devel version so I downloaded 0.7.7 after being delighted that I was able to compile plib-1.3.1 and simgear-0.0.15 and equally delighted that flightgear-0.7.7 compiled and installed without a hitch I was dismayed that I had a blank gray panel and that the keyboard did nothing. Is there something else I should do to get this to work? Or being a devel version should I just try again from a different day?
Also Is it really necessary to download the base package with each new source package or will the 0.7.7 base I have work with any 0.7.7 souce I acquire?
