Quick answer about this point: don’t worry about the existing GUI code, it’s going in the bin. The replacement you can assume will be an RTT of some kind or another. So providing you can float that texture in front of the user on demand, things could work: however we do currently rely on a menubar as the top-level organisational construct : for VR we should swap that for a palette or similar, since you’d never want the UI to be persistent, and a menubar would be in an awkward place to reach. I’d guess quite a bit of our GUI doesn’t need to exist in VR, and we could tweak the rest to be somewhat usable. But 2D GUI in VR is always a bit clunky in my experience of owning a Vide and now an Occulus. Kind regards, James |
