Possible yes, but I haven't done it for a reason- which is that I find a 
rendering UI where certain features are dependent on a certain weather 
system is running highly confusing. So please don't just go changing 
things because you like it different from me. The feature IS a genuine 
AW feature that internally has nothing to do with rendering and all with 
weather.

If the only reason is lack of awareness of features on the AW GUI, the 
solution is to raise awareness of that GUI (which contains a ton of 
other options you really should adjust to your system). You need it to 
get decent visibility (the default is very conservative), thermals, the 
air pollution feature,... so this isn't a 'don't really need' part of 
the GUI that should be ignored by default.
