I guess I misunderstood you then. Sorry. My idea about checkboxes comes
from SpaceEngine (free universe simulator) where you have a windows with
30+ checkboxes of what you want enabled in the sim (you can enable/disable
planets,stars,asteroids etc.) For Thorsten's use case the list would need
to be updated depending on which volcanoes are near you,though I don't know
if this is possible or feasible.

i wasn't looking for or at anything like that...
i have entertained the idea of suggesting something with the XML trigger
that's updated from some list of active volcanoes so those that are
sleeping now may automatically awaken in the sim if they awaken in real
life... i don't, however, know of any list of such awake/asleep volcanoes
or if there is, if it has any sort of numerical activity indicator... so i
haven't suggested it ;)
