couldn't that be where a slider comes into play? i know what i'm trying to say
but apparently i'm not being specific enough... we're already doing some of this
stuff but maybe this lava stuff can't be tied in that way?? seems like it should
be able to be, though...

i don't see a need for a dialog or control... not for a model... use the LOD and
a slider like in the F10->View->Rendering->shader options... if we're close
enough to see the lava effects and if the lava shader is all the way left, don't
show anything other than maybe a bare minimum red glow or something... if the
slider is all the way right, then show all the lava in its glorious rendering...
with the slider somewhere in the middle, you get varying visuals with the more
complex one to the right... but this slider would be under scenery layers,
maybe... those are all drop lists, now, though...
it may be that i'm seeing it similar to the addition of OSM objects and looking
at controls of similar fashion... you don't see the OSM objects until you're in
LOD range and then only if the density setting allows...
i'm not sure i explained my thoughts properly this time, either :(
