I found I had to turn on buildings and roads and pylons via Stuart's very recently added gui options. Then I had to exit flightgear (autosaving these choices) and restart FlightGear before I could see the new OSM models. It appeared to me that terrasync doesn't download these OSM models unless the options are selected in the menu, but gets caught in a chicken/egg scenario the first time you turn these on.
