While that would fix this particular problem, I think it would be nice if all 
instruments would optionally allow all input properties to be set from XML; 
this would make it much easier to simultaneously have two or more instruments 
of the same type which might IRL have completely different input 
requirements.  (E.g main and standby instruments.)

As far as I know this is already partially possible with some instruments, 
which take config settings like <static-port> and <pitot-port>.
