First of all, many kudos to the FlightGear group! I'm using version 0.7.5, the one that came with Mandrake 8, and think it is great. Boy, it was work to get it running but I learned a lot from it. Now let me introduce my self: - Beta tester for Fly2 - Wrote Yakster!, an Earcandy like program, for Fly2. I would like to do the same thing for FlightGear. Some where I read, in time, that FlightGear will have a scripting language. Would like to expand on the Audio Scenery idea. You can read about Yakster! on my web page at www.jeff-davis.com - Have done work with static 3D models for Fly!. This is where I would like to start helping out with FlightGear. Can someone recommend a Linux 3D program for this kind of work? And what model format is recommended? Also, I think the latest version of FlightGear is needed for the static 3D models? No idea if I can get that to work! Just started learning Linux about 6 months ago. I do have version 0.7.5 running with Mandrake 8.0 with a Geforce 2 video card. - On the negative side, I have vary little TIME. Building a house, working overtime and will be going back to school nights. But I can find some time and LOVE this kind of work!! All my time may just go to trying to get the new version of FlightGear running on my box and finding/installing a 3D program. Can't wait to start! Jeff Davis www.jeff-davis.com |
