Meetings(mind the spelling) have to be set up in advance. Not eveyone will make it, but most people have to MAKE time for this. If you simply say a date, nobody will show up. And if they show up, they will leave soon because there're nobody to talk to. --- Shimon <sh...@gm...> wrote: > i am there right now and will be there 24/7 and i will arrage a > meating for all web based control panels meating maybe 2 times a month > for a whole day so people on other sides of the world can take part > -- > From the desk of shimon. > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.Net email is sponsored by: YOU BE THE JUDGE. It's still more or less alive, just in a hibernative(sp?) state. I think that fixing this bug will lead to more active development. 1 is a good suggestion, but the other two aren't really useful. We're not into this for the money and I highly doubt it will stimulate us to work. If someone paid me a healthy amount of money, I would no doubt spend all my free time on FlexCP. The reality is that small and begining projects like FlexCP hardly get any worthwhile donations. You shouldn't be in OSS development for the money. P.S.: Don't get me wrong, I'm not waiting for someone to double the balance of my bank account. I'll try to work more on flexcp in the future, even without money. FHS is part of, and included in, the LSB. Besides, paths should be easy to change as long as we don't hardwire them. Right now flexcp will run on any fork()able OS that will compile PHP. Basically this means any of the Unixes, so choose whatever devel box you want. The more diverse our platforms are while developing it the less we'll have to worry about porting later. what you should do is build whatever your product is with cross-architecture|cross-plaform in mind, and then provide packages native to each distribution. debian makes the latter half fairly easy and painless. But if your developers don't want to use Debian, that's their deal. well, as a development platform, installing the development environment and libraries you need is *really* easy on Debian. I don't know how easy on slack. that's the main thing I've got to say about it. from what a few people said on ##linux on freenode. GUYS can we come to the irc channel on freenode (#flexcp) On Tue, 28 Sep 2004 18:55:10 -0700, Jonathan Haskins <jha...@ki...> wrote: > Which distribution should not matter at this point in the development. > Once we start working with packaging rpms and debs we'll worry about > supporting specific dists. Which distribution should not matter at this point in the development. Once we start working with packaging rpms and debs we'll worry about supporting specific dists. I do most of my developing on a fedora workstation. I'm sorry. I don't believe in pre-built packages, unless it's used for distro distribution only. Everything else should be compile able. Personally, I think it should be developed on slack, only because it's obscure enough that if we get it to run on that, then it should run on anything. It's all command line, no config files that automate, and simple. After that, it's just a matter of changing install instructions to define the other's config files. . > -----Original Message----- > From: fle...@li... debian it is the easy for server admins to use thanks to APT and the dpkg database not stuffing up comenly (like with rpm) and few people came into the irc channel and said if flexcp is going to be compatble with debian.... so go with debian and you can also set up slack, fedora,... to test if it works with those distros On Tue, 28 Sep 2004 17:27:27 -0500, j@ckrabbit <jac...@ho...> wrote: > I could also make a server available via ssh for developers that don't > have their own linux box. slack would be my preference. > > > > Jason Kendall wrote: > > > Ok, I'll get on the ball this week and install a new virtual server on > > my computer here for just FlexCP.. I could also make a server available via ssh for developers that don't have their own linux box. slack would be my preference. Hi Guys :) Nice to see you again!. I've tried to fix the webserver-bug (just for 1 hour, 2 months ago)....But I was too busy (and no free time in the last months) in order to pick up the sources and debug them. :-(. If the project is still alive, I want to continue involved with it. I'm having some free time to spend on it. :) PabloC. On 27 Sep 2004 at 19:37, Jason Kendall wrote: > Ahh yes, Stimulation is good. 1. there is a feature to request for helper to the project. you can use it. 2. they have a donating feature. dont use it! they take about 5% or $1 at min. just put up your own paypal donate thing on your site. 3. if you devs need money put up ads on your site as long as thisnt agensted your sf.net TOS it will be good for the project. -- From the desk of shimon. |

I'm willing to take a look at the code, but I have to re-install linux first. The harddisk that had linux on it crashed completely. After I get that going, I'm willing to invest some time in that. It seems that that's the main delay right now. If we get that sorted out, adding additional modules will be easier. A while back there was some discussion on ACL, how far is that? --- Jonathan Haskins <jha...@ki...> wrote: > The cvs semi works right now but it does not handle a > disconnect/reconnect situation correctly right now. I don't know the internal structure of the prokect you mention, but most OSS projects don't work with deadlines. It may work for them, but I'm fairly certain it WON'T work for flexcp. I would agree with wdv about the punctation. There are three keys that might be helpful to you the shift key is used to add a capital letter (A instead of a), the comma key (,) and the dot key (.). Using those makes your text a lot more readable. --- Shimon <sh...@gm...> wrote: > if there is a road map and one module of the project will not be > finished by the the dead line of the project then an old stable > version of that module get relested and when the module finishes and > get stable then another relest of that version of the project get > relested (beside with the gnome project, then its up to the distros). > > > On Tue, 28 Sep 2004 15:45:34 +0200, Wouter de Vries <wo...@af...> wrote: > > Shimon wrote: > > > you know how gnome push to have the final version out of the door when > > > the road maps so to even if <random-package> is not quite finished and > > > if it not finished they ship with an old version and normally distros > > > update that package when it comes out > > > > I am sorry, but I don't quite follow what you're saying here. if there is a road map and one module of the project will not be finished by the the dead line of the project then an old stable version of that module get relested and when the module finishes and get stable then another relest of that version of the project get relested (beside with the gnome project, then its up to the distros). you know how gnome push to have the final version out of the door when the road maps so to even if <random-package> is not quite finished and if it not finished they ship with an old version and normally distros update that package when it comes out On Tue, 28 Sep 2004 14:55:59 +0200, Wouter de Vries <wo...@af...> wrot= e: > Shimon wrote: > > pushy mean to be pushy to get stuff done by the deadline like how > > gnome does it if one project is behind and one dev is really busy that > > will mean the project maniger will need to go out hunting for devs. >=20 > As you know, all our developers are volunteers.
