IIRC last time when the file name of fb odbc driver changed, the then developer needed to ask for consent from the firebird team. I have never used Visual Foxpro, but if it uses odbc (not .net) for firebird, then I believe the 2.0 branch is the best open source fb odbc driver that you can get. IMO it even better than other commercial dirvers. It works both for fb 1.5 and fb 2.0. It is "beta" just because the author did not feel the need to tag it as "stable". OTOH the 1.x branch do work with unicode and many features/bug fixes were not back ported from 2.0. In short, just use the 1.2 branch. Thanks, but why do you recommend that? I wasn't going to blindly download the file, so I went to the Red Soft site and it appears they have their own database server based on Firebird. Can I assume the ODBC driver you suggest will work with Firebird 1.5 as well as their version? And is it even an ODBC driver or were you recommending the database server itself (which is not an option in this case)? I don't mean to appear ungrateful, but if I'm going to branch out to a third party developer I'd just like to know a little bit about that company, their reputation, and the reputation of their products. I will research that myself, but if you have any thoughts on that, I'd appreciate hearing them, too. Crystal Reports (ODBC Connection). I use a pretty old Crystal Report

Everything always worked like a charm with ODBC and FB (Beta 0.9, 1.0,
1.5, 2.0) now 2.1 has "problems", another guy have the same problem with
FireRuby Driver (reported on fb-support) Dmitry Yemanov replied that FB
2.1 has a stricter checking on TPB values and that is some bug on

Any ideas how can I try to solve this ?

However my sample code doesn't work either. You can look up CRT
implementation of wcstombs function, if you want.
To make function both efficient on Windows and correct you need
consistently change the function contract to receive and return the
buffer length including the last terminator zero.
This would require changes in Unix function implementation, UTF8
implementation, UNICODE_FSS implementation, and Windows implementation,
and all usages in the driver would need to be simplified.
Your sample code would turn to much more efficient:
