I think the Problem is here: FB 1.5 is 32 Bit only – fbclient.dll and gds32.dll are from this installation and also 32 Bit. The ODBC driver depends on them, and the 64 Bit version of the ODBC can’t use them. So no connect with 64 Bit drivers ;-) Solution 1 (Tested): Install 32 ODBC driver and use this one (Use the right ODBC Manager on 64 Bit Windows!) Solution 2 (untested): Install client only firebird 2.x in 64 Bit. Then you should be able to connect with 64 bit ODBC driver! Solution 3 (untested): Solution 1 + Solution 2: fbclient.dll + gds32.dll from FB 1.5 in c:\windows\syswow64, fbclient.dll + gds32.dll from FB 2.x 64 Bit in c:\windows\system32, both ODBC drivers installed – Connection should be possible from 64 bit ODBC Manager and 32 bit ODBC Manager! Have checked now with this customer and the BDE is not even present on that machine, so I don't think the problem lies with that. Have also checked the Firebird version and that looks fine as well: DBMS Name Firebird 1.5 DBMS Version 06.03.4910 WI-V Firebird 1.5 Also checked the version of the file IscDbc.dll and that is fine (same as mine) as well. Bear in mind that there only is a problem with SQL of the type: select first X all else is fine. Any other suggestions and thanks in advance for that? Hi Bart, Are you sure that one of the zeros isn't a capital 'O' (oh) in the customer's SQL? Maybe in your tests you copy and pasted from the script they sent? I know from personal experience that 1.2.0.70 (the last 1.2. version) removed some problems with downward compatibility of ODBC 3.x to ODBC 2.x. You should replace 1.2.0.69 by 1.2.0.70. But that is just a shot into the dark, because it would explain your problems with CR 9, but not those with CR 11.... I think... regards, André --- |

AvdB> Dear Cyrille, AvdB> please see attached complete thread. I am working a real lot with Crystal Reports (all versions) and Firebird (several versions) via ODBC and find no problems other than design problems of the database itself (caused by the DB; me *g*). I would be interested to find out which solution works for you and what really was the cause for your problems. If no solution was found so far, and you still don't know the reason for the problems, I will try to assist further. But since I don't believe that it is ODBC driver related, and to spare Helen from doing so, I suggest that you move further questions to the appropriate group. --- |

Dear André, First of all thanks for your reply. You are absolutely true. Despite I should have maybe extended my request by the fact that I have three primary key columns which depend on each other. Dear Team, I have a client which is requesting to connect excel via ODBC to Firebird database. So far no problem. I have configured all required DSN and ODBC settings so that connections is established and excel is able to read the database. The only problem which occurs is that some primary key columns have empty cells (not <Null> but simply empty). Excel seems to have a problem in interpreting those and replaces some empty fields with scrap values made out of "neighbors cells". Do you have any idea how to tackle this?
