We have a server running SAP Crystal Server XI. We use the program called infoview (web portal) to run crystal reports. This connects to the firebird 1.5 database using an ODBC connection. My understanding is that the firebird ODBC driver uses connection pooling. Is it possible to configure the min and max connections in this connection pool? |

IIRC that cannot be set from odbcad32 panel, the read option only indicate one will not write data but it does not override transaction isolation. Firebird engine itself does not support read uncommitted. I'm not sure this changed in fb 2.5. You may try testing with odbc 148 with your original fb engine (2.1?) to confirm whether this is a problem of odbc driver. -- regards, ==================================================== GPG key 1024D/4434BAB3 2008-08-24 gpg --keyserver subkeys.pgp.net --recv-keys 4434BAB3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Next 800 Companies to Lead America's Growth: New Video Whitepaper David G. There is nothing to stop you using git locally and merging upstream changes into your code as and when they are made. When it comes to pushing your changes, well, you'll need to prepare patches for review. Commit rights would only come later. If you get to the point where you are committed enough to the further development of the driver there would be no problem adding you as a developer. Then you could push the migration to svn or git yourself. Paul -- Paul Reeves http://www.ibphoenix.com Specialists in Firebird support |

The driver will have been built against firebird and you'll probably have to install Firebird do get the client library. Whether it will work with a remote interbase server is unknown, at least to me. And likewise, I don't know whether it will work if it tries to load an InterBase version of gds32. Failing that, the latest code base for v2 of the driver has better compilation support for InterBase. You may be able to get better results by installing a Linux version of IB6 and then building the driver against that. (Or even build Fb 1.0 - that is more or less 100% compatible with IB6). Hi: Don't know what the bag tracker is. This has been an outstanding problem for over a year now: I am continuing to get these errors using OdbcFb.dll version 2.0.0.148. These are entries in the Windows 2003 R2 event log: Faulting application dllhost.exe, version 5.2.3790.3959, faulting module OdbcFb.dll, version 2.0.0.148, fault address 0x00022cc4. Good! I am very concerned about the fact that the latest stable version of the ODBC driver for firebird on September 5, 2004. How many systems can communicate with the Firebird ODBC Driver through we were running the risk that the development of this driver does not follow the development of versions of firebird. Hopefully the shekel of developing new versions of this driver will not take so long. -------------------------------------------------- From: "Alexander Potapchenko" <ale...@gm...> Sent: Monday, October 18, 2010 3:05 PM To: <fir...@li...> Subject: [Firebird-odbc-devel] ODBC Driver Project Lives Again > Hi to all, > > I resume development of the ODBC driver. AFAIK those setting in odbad32 panel have nothing to do with transaction isolation. Not sure why you didn't get the record lock problem in earlier versions if those read/nowait options in odbc admin are all that you had tweaked. I guess you can ask in firebird support forum for how to set the isolation level that you wanted but not so sure if crystal report will provide a chance for you to execute that required sql statements. -- regards, ==================================================== GPG key 1024D/4434BAB3 2008-08-24 gpg --keyserver subkeys.pgp.net --recv-keys 4434BAB3 |

-- regards, ==================================================== GPG key 1024D/4434BAB3 2008-08-24 gpg --keyserver subkeys.pgp.net --recv-keys 4434BAB3 |

hi everybody, i changed to firebird 2.5 and the odbc driver 2.0.0.148 (Version 144 does not work on firebird 2.1 above) Know i have a very big transaction problem. I start a transaction in my application - so one row in my table is locked. now i can not read with the ODBC driver this row - i always get a lock conflict 40001. I just want to read, not to write. of course i tried all setting in the odbc administrator. (read, nowait) I want to print with crystal report, so i can not directly change the connection string. This worked very well with odbd 2.0.0.144 (i tested it know again) Because of this behaviour, i can not change to firebird 2.5 --- please can anyone help me? thanks a lot greetings from austria Ulrich Hutter GMS Zentrale 5582 St.Michael im Lungau, Katschberg 423 Tel: +43/4734/627 50, Fax: +43/4734/627 51 ul...@gm..., www.gms.info Firma: GMS Hutter GmbH & Co KG, Rechtsform: GmbH & Co KG, Firmensitz: Salzburg, Firmenbuchnummer: FN 172325 w, Firmenbuchgericht: Handelsgericht Salzburg, DVR: 1042688, Komplementär: Hutter GmbH, Sitz: 5582 St. Michael, Katschberg 423, FB-Gericht Salzburg, FN 196476k Wichtiger Hinweis: Diese E-Mail kann Betriebs- oder Geschäftsgeheimnisse oder sonstige vertrauliche Informationen enthalten. Without knowing how DBI call sqlbindcol, and how it decodes the buffer after fetching a row, or what is the output of sqldescribecol, it will be also possible that the culprit being DBI itself. However my knowledge of perl is very limited. -- regards, ==================================================== GPG key 1024D/4434BAB3 2008-08-24 gpg --keyserver subkeys.pgp.net --recv-keys 4434BAB3 |

Hi Bill, >You did not show how you call sqlbindcol, without detail it is hard to >guess what was wrong. I don't know what sqlbindcol is, all I do is: my $dbh = DBI->connect("DBI:ODBC:END_DB"); Which calls the unixODBC driver manager. Which is directed to the database and diver as follows: odbcinst.ini>> [Firebird] Description = Firebird/InterBase(r) driver Driver = /usr/lib/libOdbcFb.so Setup = /usr/lib/libOdbcFb.so UsageCount = 2 odbc.ini>> [END_DB] Description = Firebird Driver = Firebird Dbname = localhost:/home/steve/Documents/Endoscopia/DB/ENDOSCOPIA.FDB Client = User = SYSDBA Password = masterkey Role = CharacterSet = NONE ReadOnly = No NoWait = No Dialect = 3 QuotedIdentifier = Yes SensitiveIdentifier = No AutoQuotedIdentifier = No But I'm not sure this answers your question. Here is a resend of the original message (including .ini files) from March this year. Is that what you meant? I can send you the Perl code snippet if you like, but maybe that's too much detail. Steve, You did not show how you call sqlbindcol, without detail it is hard to guess what was wrong. Except sql_numeric which I don't need so not tested. But the 64-bit drivers need some fixes. Perhaps you could give some context of your problem, did you call odbc api directly or via some wrapping library? -- regards, ==================================================== GPG key 1024D/4434BAB3 2008-08-24 gpg --keyserver subkeys.pgp.net --recv-keys 4434BAB3 |
