Subject: [Firebird-net-provider] user documentation and examples Hi, I just come on this list, and I was searching the archives to see the = answer to my question. I want to know if there is any user documentation and = examples, especially of how to use the embedded version of Firebird 1.5, because = from installing the docs and source of the Firsbird .NET provider 1.6 = Alpha, I don't see any, all I see is the API, which doesn't have examples of = connecting the embedded server. Also, after downloading the .NET 1.5.2 Provider, I = found two sample files, but they don't show how to use the embedded server. I had the search some other lists to find out that it was the 1.6 = Alpha provider that gave embedded support, but I would love to find examples of how = to do this. From searching this list, I found out that you have to use = ServerType=3D1 in the connection string, but is this documented anywhere? Are there any = examples anywhere on how to do this? I would like to know what are the = possible arguments for the connection string, so that I can efficiently use = this .Net provider. I am just looking for some help here, can anyone direct me = to it? Read the help of FbConnection.ConnectionString property (in the API=20 docs), you have the complete list of arguments allowed in the=20 ConnectionString, including the ServerType one that allow you to = connect=20 to the embedded server ( using ServerType=3D1 ). -- Best regards Carlos Guzm=E1n =C1lvarez Vigo-Spain --__--__-- Message: 3 Date: Sun, 28 Mar 2004 05:33:31 -0800 From: "Michael A. Subject: Re: [Firebird-net-provider] user documentation and examples thanks a lot Carlos! That is going to be a great help. A couple questions... If I am writing for connection to an embedded server, the properties: Server/DataSource, Port and Packet Size are ot applicable. Right? Also, the installer for the .Net 1.1 Provider 1.6 Alpha won't install. = It says something about the gacutil.exe and the MSVCR70.dll. I think other = persons in this list has this problem. Huummm maybe i'm worng but i think that the 1.6 Alpha 1 for .NET 1.1.=20 installer ships with the correct gacutil, you can review the KNOWN.txt = file or build the sources ( you will need nant, nant.sourceforge.net ) -- Best regards Carlos Guzm=E1n =C1lvarez Vigo-Spain --__--__-- _______________________________________________ Firebird-net-provider mailing list Fir...@li... https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/firebird-net-provider End of Firebird-net-provider Digest |

Hi Abel, thanks for the answer, Firebird would be my first choice for a embedded database, but I must access it via BDP (->Borland Eco). Currently I am storing in XML for prototyping. I hope I can wait for the BDP driver. Hi, There are some differences in the versions and installations but still two computers can have the exact same installation and still the program will work on one and not the other. I have tried installing the latest version of Firebird with all seetings the same as those on the computer in which I wrote the program and still no luck.
