The USGS has a fair number of scientific programs that have
been compiled for various flavors of Unix. The source code
is readily available. Programs are in Fortran or C++. I
suspect most of the programs would be an easy port - our
software is normally 'plain vanilla'. Such software would be
of use/interest to other government agencies, consultants,
and acadamia.
The agency is trying to force us Mac users into the windows
world - having such software compiled for our Macs would
be a BIG help in preventing that.

Yo, that looks like a whole lot of software packages! If all
you're trying to do is prove Mac feasilbility to your boss,
pick one or two to start and I'm sure people here would be
happy to help you get them to work.
