What is ironic is that the new X11 is so buggy that even Ben Byer has said publicly yesterday that if you want things like fullscreen mode or a working middle mouse button emulation or a functioning Applications menu in X11.app, you should go back to Tiger's X11 :-) He even half promised to make a copy available for download. OTOH, Leopard's X11 now has freetype 2.3.5 (newer than Fink's latest freetype219), and it provides its own libpng12.dylib and libpng.3.dylib (verwsion 1.2.8, older than Fink's 1.2.18). All kinds of new interesting interactions with Fink's packages are likely. For example, pkg-config libpng --libs gives different results (-L/sw/lib -lpng12) on Tiger than on Leopard (-L/usr/X11/lib -lpng12 -lz -lm). And it will be fun to watch dyld choosing between libPng.dylib from the ImageIO.framework, Fink's libpng.dylib which is libpng12, and /usr/X11/lib/libpng.dylib which is libpng.3. -- Martin |
