Perhaps you are omitting a --user=username parameter, or perhaps you need to be root to start your MySQL server. It depends on your setup, which I don't know, but ... do you have any notes from how it was originally configured? For instance, on my MySQL database, I had a special user who I started the database as each time: $ ./bin/safe_mysqld --user=mysqladm & Mind you I don't have a fink MySQL but that doesn't matter. I think you need to be root to do it, so use sudo. Erik |
