I was having problems with fetchyahoo 2.13.3 on one account. I could collect mail from one account, but it was failing on another. I *think* what (sort of) fixed it for me was: - delete all cookies from my web browser for yahoo.com - log in to yahoo mail in my web browser and now I get the mail, and no fetchyahoo failures. But: it seems to not actually delete the messages on yahoo, just leaves them read in INBOX. So: I may just end up using --newonly and polluting yahoo with all my leftover mail (which in this case is almost nothing). Hope that helps someone - cheers! John |

Another possibility I've considered is that Yahoo might be having technical problems or might be blocking my access after downloading too much. I tried downloading the whole 1570 messages again and had perfect success up to message 940: _....5..._.[940] Found a Yahoo failure page, trying again. Found a Yahoo failure page, trying again. Found a Yahoo failure page, trying again. Found a Yahoo failure page, trying again. HTTP/1.1 999 Unable to process request at this time -- error 999 Browsing to my mail gives a "temporary error" page. Although it doesn't explicitly say so, I think it was caused by downloading too much at one time. Chris |

OK, I moved all but one good message out of the inbox and was able to download it with version 2.13.3 but not with 2.12.0alpha13, which is what Ubuntu Intrepid (8.10) currently uses. The next version of Ubuntu, Jaunty Jackalope (9.04) was released yesterday, and hopefully comes with a (mostly) working version of FetchYahoo. I'll try downloading the 1500 messages, which are mostly spam, in portions, and try to find out if a bunch of them are tripping up FetchYahoo, or if it is a single message that derails the download process. Thank you for the help and encouragement. Chris On Thu, 23 Apr 2009, Mark Frank wrote: > I was wondering about that as well. I was wondering about that as well. I had mine on classic and changed to the new interface with no difference in results. Javier and Mark, Thank you for your replies! It seems like it is an account setting or maybe a bad message that is making some accounts work and not others. Do you have your Yahoo accounts set to the classic interface or the new interface? I'm trying to download about 1500 messages, but I'll try moving them tomorrow and see if known-good messages will download. Hi, I'm using 2 accounts with FY 2.13.3. One is working properly (I have just downloaded 3 messages and marked them as read), while the other doesn't ever log in (Yahoo! has sent us an image of text, etc.). Some time ago, when using 2.12.4, I experienced the same issue with the latter acount (which seems to be the more problematic). If you can login with 2.12.4 I can send you a patched version that worked for me (the bug was supposed to be fixed in 2.13.3 with a slightly different approach). Please note that older versions may not work now because Yahoo ocassionally changes the interface. With 20 subscribers and four posts, I hope someone reads this! I've been using fetchyahoo happily for several years now, and could always get it to work until the last few weeks, when deleting the messages stopped working. That required me to download by hand so I could manually delete the messages on Yahoo. I posted a bug report but haven't seen any other reports anywhere. Today fetchyahoo seems to have broken completely, not even downloading the message headers. I was going to try to describe the problems completely, but first I want to know if anyone else is having problems with fetchyahoo? Chris |

Hi, This patch allows me to use imaps (ubuntu intrepid). I basically took updated code from: http://www.perlmonks.org/?node_id=649742 It looks like an updated ssl socket library takes care of eating the opening message instead of having to do it manually. I'm not sure of a good way to distinguish between the old ssl and new ssl libraries, nor what version the change was made :( The patch also makes a print statement honor $quiet. Thanks for the great software! Wade |

HI all. I installed fetchyahoo and can get it to d/l my mail to a mbox file but I thought you could use it to forward your mail to a different address. I'll be danged if I can find a "howto" on it though. Anyone know how to do this? Do you use sendmail, or will fetchyahoo do it alone? Thanks. Trying to run fetchyahoo 2.10.1 on Ubuntu Linux. Keep getting the following error: _/Failed: Couldn't open output: home/roger/mail/tmp/1133103855.P6894Q0.ugx1 at /usr/bin/fetchyahoo line 1347. /_ I've tried /var/spool/mail/roger with and without a slash at the end. I have also tried using my home directory, but still the same error. It appears to be a permission error, but not sure. Any help appreciated. TIA Roger |
