[fetchmail-devel] New Catalan PO file for `fetchmail'

Hello, gentle maintainer. This is a message from the Translation
Project robot.

A revised PO file, for programs using the textual domain `fetchmail',
has been submitted by the team of translators taking care of the
Catalan language.  This particular file, along with all other PO files
pertaining to the same textual domain, is available as:

The file should soon be made available in mirror sites as:

Please consider including all PO files, as they stand, in the `po/'
subdirectory of your next release of programs using that textual domain,
whether it is official or pretest.  Whenever you have a distribution ready

to the address below.  The distribution could be a pretest or a snapshot,
it does not even have to compile.  This is to be used by translators,
when they need to get some translation context from your sources.

Within the Translation Project, each PO Template file should have different
version numbers, but since it is not OK to have two different distributions
using same version numbers, this is not a problem in practice.

I deem the current fetchmail SVN code approaching official release.

I rolled another snapshot, labelled as fetchmail-6.2.6-pre4. I consider
this a release candidate, if nothing serious shows up in the next few
days, this can become 6.3.0.

da el gl ja pt_BR sk sq tr - these are the translations that have been
removed from this release because they lag too far behind. They are:
Danish, Greek, Galician, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, Slovak,
Albanian and Turkish. Please help updating these translations.

If you have a test machine available, please test this version and
report back if it worked for you, if it fixed your favourite 6.2.5 bugs,
or if it introduced new bugs, or if you tested it without anything in
particular.

In case this fails to compile, please state your ./configure options,
the exact error message with a few lines leading up to the error, your
operating system and version and installed packages - or just gzip and
attach the config.log file.

Note this all comes without warranty, as usual for GPL'd software.

The important visible changes since -pre3 are:

- - the manual page is more verbose on the differences of single- vs.
  multidrop, courtesy of Hannes Beinert
- - the FAQ has additional information on SSL verification, courtesy of
  Brian Candler
- - the .spec file for RPM building was updated (note that this currently
  requires you to override the version, RPM doesn't like the dash in
  -pre4 - this will not affect the final release).
- - the POP3 client will not attempt to send "PASS secret" if "USER login"
  failed previously.
- - some translations disabled as detailed above
- - new Russian translation added
- - some translations updated
- - proto RPOP in the configuration file is now supported (used to be
  supported only on the command line)

BTW, PASSWORDLEN only affects interactively entered passwords. For the
configuration file, we use xstrdup() and so can take lengths as long as
flex and yacc/bison are willing to provide.

OK, I have looked at the regression tests and fixed (ESR's programming
style was pretty locale agnostic, but mbox format in TEST.LOG is quite
sensitive to localized timestamps) and updated the torturetest.py
scripts to use my sender address. I then found that a good deal of the
test sites are either no longer offering esr's test account and
refusing/bouncing mail, or don't let us log in.

We may need to ask those sites that are still reachable for new
passwords, but for the nonce, we have a handful of sites that work and
that we can fetch from.

it's been a long time since you'd suggested your changes and offered the
man page patch.

I have gratefully merged your excellent work on the fetchmail.man
page, to appear in the next fetchmail release.

The log formatting changes you've suggested are more intrusive and I am
begging your indulgence while we must shelve the log formatting changes
for the nonce, for one reason is that we'll need to focus the next few
releases on catching up with bug fixes, and for another is that cosmetic
changes without attached patches don't rank very high in our list of
priorities, with the severely limited time that maintainers have to look
into this.

I understand that even cosmetic changes may be highly desirable or
useful, but there are unfortunately more important changes (such as UID
handling) down the pipe that need to be addressed earlier.

I hope that's OK. I have achived and marked important your message that
I'm replying to, so I can easily come back to this issue later.

Indeed, we gave up on the BerliOS SVN server because it was fragile and
the support quality at BerliOS is unacceptable. My shell access at one
time got lost because something (certainly not I myself) changed the
permissions of my home directory, and it took them a month or so to
restore it, during which I could not recover the SVN repository which
needed recovery.

Check <http://decoy.wox.org/svn/fetchmail/trunk/> for the real thing.

mhm it seems that the svn listed on berlios isn't the svn
you use on grahams server...

[fetchmail-devel] fetchmail translations outdated - da el ja sq tr disabled

Hi,

I am about to disable the da el ja sq tr (Danish, Greek, Japanese,
Albanian and Turkish) translations as they have around 70 (out of 606)
fuzzy or untranslated messages. Any updates sent in time for the release
will of course make me include that particular translation.

ca cs de es fr pl ru (Catalan, Czech, German, Spanish, French, Polish
and Russian) are in good shape.

Any objections? Opinions?

Postponed. We need to get this damn release done, and I don't mean to
run this thorugh the translation project again if I can help it.

If you want this documented in the next release, we can add a paragraph
to fetchmail.man.

one of your earlier patches, on -06-29 (SVN revision 4059). :)

BTW, your mailer declared a bogus charset on the patch, the mail claimed
iso-8859-1 but the de.po file is in UTF-8, so it looked a bit ugly in my
mailer.

a user complained about the fact that the maximum password
len isn't displayed so he had to download the source and
have a look. I wrote a patch which displays it with
fetchmail -V like he wanted this on

Ja, es sieht gut aus. Ein Teil des Patches verändert ein msgid, ist das
wirklich gebracht?

Sí, los cambios se ven bien. Una parte del patch cambia un msgid, ¿es
realmente necesario?

Dear Spanish translator(s),

we have a pending bug report against the Spanish translation; the patch
Nico (who is the Debian maintainer) refers to is at
<http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=286044>. The patch is
outdated though.

I have tried to update that patch with the knowledge of other Romanic
languages I have and the patterns found elsewhere in the es.po file.

Is it OK to apply the attached patch on top of your es.po file for the
fetchmail domain? Please double check as I don't speak or write Spanish.

If "yes", please apply this to your repository, too, so it doesn't get lost.
