But why we need option for this? Isn't it normal if feedreader will get the state it had before hidding? I think that to many options are not definetly good. Feedreader should be simple even for dumb user. And if we really need some finetuning options we should make new preferences tab "Advanced" Toomas > > There is a new option which describes what happens if you click with > the left mouse button on the icon: show normal or maximized. > This flickering occurs just the first time the window is shown. > |

Whatever is done in FR at startup, I expect Delphi to be the reason of trouble. I asume that Languages from MS do recognize the information at start from the porperties of the icon better and Delphi fails - so we have this mess. >Can i delete the two builds? I think Feedreader should startu up without flickering. Of course it's better to save maximized/normalized state for user but this flickering is so unnormal :). Another thing is if i click on trayicon. Last public version behaved correctly no matter if form was restored or mazimized before hiding to tray. But at the moment it flicker if it was maximized. We should revert this back? Greetings Toomas Karsten Hoffrath wrote: > > So please vote for the preferred method > > Greetings, > Karsten > |

Hi all. I made a small adjustment to form saving/restoring. Build 622 (www.khoffrath.de/feedreader/feedreader_622.zip) Build 623 (www.khoffrath.de/feedreader/feedreader_623.zip) Both builds are equal except one thing: Build 622 restores the windowposition and -size correctly no matter if the window was maximized, minimized or normal at shutdown. This comes with the price of a short flickering at program startup. Build 623 restores the window size not correctly under the following circumstances: The window was maximized at shutdown. When the program is restarted and the window is restored to normal state, the size is correct, but the position is in the screen center. So please vote for the preferred method Greetings, Karsten P.S. I noticed, that both files have build no 622. The file feedreader_623.zip is the one with the uncomplete startup functionality ;). |

Hello! I have commited to CVS some works on usability in importopmlform. I can't say i did all what Nicole told ;). It's best if Karsten could build new version and put to his homepage for downloading. So Nicole could check out new version and help me out on some things that are not ready at the moment. The biggest problem is that listview has two states : checked and selected. At the moment there are some confusing moments because i relay on checked status not selected status. Meanwhile: KIKA, could you provide us with opml import and export images for mainmenu? Waiting for new ideas (will hopefully work tomorrow on OPML export) Toomas |

Hi, welcome back :). I must admit that i did nothing to FeedReader in the last few days ;). I hope i can put some work in it today. I'm not happy with the state it is at the moment. Following things i will enhance before calling it ready for a release: -saving/restoring of form position (never ending story) -OPML-forms need beautifying -OPML export doesn't work for me -maybe change the way translations are handled -do one change to the internal creation of the EmbeddedWB content (fix for opening the wrong url when opening in new window from newsoverview) I hope i can make this changes until end of the week. But i can't post on the website or put a new version on sourceforge anyway :). I', just a small developer ;) Greeetings, Karsten Nicole Simon wrote: > Hi, > > could we add something about a newer version on the mainpage? Happy new year to everyone :o) Karsten Hoffrath <mai...@kh...> wrote: >So all errors are gone or are there still some? I would not say that all errors are gone ;o) hm. I have started the new version for 2-3 times. All was good. Now on your mail to check, I opened again and look what - some are back. :o( ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ * instead of maximazing on opening, it is this little titlebar in the left corner again. I would suspekt - from my basic understanding of how feedreader might be programmed - this: - fr checks after opening the setting 'start minimized on startup' - this is not checked in my settings - he then *does* a minimize, not to systray but this looks like a minimize, although he should just leave the window state alone Not that annoying but perhaps it helps: If I minimize it to systray and it reopens, it does not just maximized, it does first to 'resized' and then to maximized. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ * the 'double row toolbar' is back again I did a change on my toolbar setting to adapt it to my wishes. - tested "add a feed" to see if this is still working: yes - added one feed - clicked it on treeview - double toolbar disapears without me doing something Whatever you do when I click a treeview, it obviously resets something for the toolbar to make it right. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ * roll up / down when marking all read There ist a quick flashing (press button - white - headlines back again mark as read) but the 'roll up and down' thing is not there. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rest seems okay BUT: I had this problem with double toolbar for some time and then suddenly the "add feed" did not work anymore. I do know have a new toolbar.bin and it might reoccur again. I would start adding some of my new feeds to see if I get a problem again - is any new version on start or should I start with 616? :o) Nicole -- http://www.useful-sounds.de/ - http://beissholz.de |

Hi Nicole, some questions and notes: >I can't rename folders? I can ;). Highlight the folder. Wait a second, then click again on the folder. Now you can edit the foldername. >I have always disliked this 'explode the tree the minute you click it' >feature, because it it not windows standard. Windows standard is: >one click - mark it >double click - open it I'm not sure is this in Build 616 or not. In my version it is already. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Most of the possible commands which are available for a toolbar are not available via menue. Ok, where should we put them how should we arrange which commands? Karsten |

Hi Toomas. Is OPML export done? I ask because when i'm exporting my feeds, which are organised in folders the following file is created: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <opml version="1.0"> <head></head> <body> <outline text="News" xmlUrl="" type="rss" version="RSS"></outline> <outline text="Computer" xmlUrl="" type="rss" version="RSS"></outline> <outline text="Open Source" xmlUrl="" type="rss" version="RSS"></outline> <outline text="Testfeeds" xmlUrl="" type="rss" version="RSS"></outline> <outline text="Break FeedReader" xmlUrl="http://www.daliblume.com/ThrowMeAway/index.xml" type="rss" version="RSS"></outline> </body> </opml> The first four items are my folders, where i expected that childitems appear which are the actual feeds. The last item is a feed which is not in an folder. Do you have an introduction about how to use OPML, especially for our case, exchanging feed informations between feed reader programms. Greetings, Karsten |
