No

Update check feature is cool for ''private'' users, that typically run with administrators (or sudo ;) power.

But in a ''corporate'' environment (meaning not a corporate, but every place where there's a sysadmin and users have no administrative power to the machines) this feature is not so comfortable, because user have no power to upgrade the program, and so tend to confuse them.

Seems to me that this feature cannot be disabled, and the URL is hardcoded in the soruce.

A smarter approach would be to make it disable (via a config file or a registry key), and/or to make the update URL modifiable by installer/sysadmin.

Thanks.

Ahem, sorry, i've get the wrong form.

This is clearly a feature request, not a bug. ;(

Automatic updates can be disabled using the Configuration dialog (see attached screenshot) or via registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\eviacam\settings\checkUpdatesAtStartup

I see no point in making the update URL modifiable. Anyway, you can modify it and recompile the binaries.

OK, if you mean to be able to completely disable the "check for updates" feature (i.e. to prevent user to manually check for updates). Well, in eviacam, this functionality is only informative, i.e. does not try to install anything, just opens the eviacam webpage. Don't know if this could be confusing for the users.
