The good news: after a couple of night of playing around with .1.3 I have
succeeded in duplicating the problem.  ETC is very clearly detecting the
touches and fetching from the webserver, but it never displays anything
but a blank screen.

The bad news, I haven't figured out what I did to cause this, or for that
matter what to do to remedy the problem.  Anyhow, I'm going to play with
the code tonight, and see if I can't get a more robust version running.  I
have a feeling this is caused by a lack of disk space to store the PNG
temporarily.. but I need to add some debug code to prove it.
