Details not yet decided. Somehow we want users to
enter arbitrary operations to be performed to both
sides of an equation. Note that this definitely should
be disabled for most operations in inequalities where
we cannot guarantee that it will maintain the inequality.

This wasn't hard to implement once we realized that we
needed to route the command through the envelope so that the
resulting changes could stay synchronized.
