Project resurrected

engine|zero is being rebuilt.

There are several important changes here:

  • The emphasis of this project has moved more towards a "universal source port" - being able to work with data from as many different games as possible. There is still a substantial emphasis on Marathon, but it's no longer the sole area of work.
  • The existing codebase is being incorporated into a much larger, .NET-based one.
  • While support for MacOSX and Linux are still important, they'll have to wait until we find someone better qualified for deployment on these platforms.
  • The overall goal here is now to be able to play supported games either exactly as first released, as modernized as possible, or anywhere in between.

Engine/Zero v0.21 Released

Suprise! E0 v0.2 had a major bug that caused serious crashing. v0.21 is a minor update that fixes this issue. The scenario has been seperated from the executables again.

Engine/Zero version 0.2 released

After three months, the cumulation of fixing and bug checking is complete! Engine/Zero, a program designed to be a compelling replacement for Marathon and Aleph One, has reached its second milestone.

This new version typically `just works' for the first time, and the project is searching for developers to help out with the work load of completing this monster task - currently many years in the making.
