These underscores in the XML were a legacy mechanism that always required special handling. There has been a growing consensus in the CIM community for not using the underscores, and they were removed from XML export in May 2022 in preparation for EPRI's Grid Model Data Management / CIM interoperability tests. None of the participants used underscores.
Thank you for your detailed response. Out of curiosity, I'd like to try the older version of OpenDSS with my current application. Where can I find an Ubuntu-compatible opendsscmd version? Preferably 1.2.11.
Thank you.

Hello All,
I'm trying to export UUIDs for a DSS file. However, as the title says, all the exported UUIDs are not prepended with an underscore "_".
The command I'm using is
Export Uuids
Is there an older version of opendss that exports UUIDs with an underscore prepended to each UUID?
I'm using opendsscmd on ubuntu, version 1.7.4.
Thanks in advance.
At one point, underscores were prepended in the XML files, but I don't think they were ever in the UUID file, e.g., from December 2020: https://github.com/GRIDAPPSD/Powergrid-Models/blob/develop/platform/cimxml/ieee13_uuids.dat compared to its matching XML in legacy format: https://github.com/GRIDAPPSD/Powergrid-Models/blob/develop/platform/cimxml/IEEE13.xml.

An example of the new XML format is here: https://github.com/GRIDAPPSD/Powergrid-Models/blob/feature/SETO/platform/cimxml/IEEE13.xml, which prepends with
urn:uuid:
. If you scan down to theFeeder
instance, its identifier begins with49AD8E07
in all three files, i.e., UUID, legacy XML, and new XML.This old version of OpenDSS https://sourceforge.net/projects/electricdss/files/OpenDSS/OpenDSSInstaller765_91.exe/download will produce underscores in the XML, but it dates from 2019 and lacks other significant improvements, not just in the CIM export. It would be better to move away from the underscores.
Hi Tom,

Thank you.
You can find 1.2.17 here: https://github.com/GRIDAPPSD/GOSS-GridAPPS-D/tree/master/opendss and also 1.2.11 by paging through the history.
Great. Thank you, Tom!
