I'm using the same version (EFW 2.2 beta2) and my problem is the same:
After rebooting everything relevant to VLANs is cleared.
When I use vconfig for 1st time I get the message:

WARNING:Could not open /proc/net/vlan/config.
Maybe you need to load the 8021q module, or maybe you are not using PROCFS??
Added VLAN with VID==50 to if -:eth0:-

So, if 802.1q module is missing, whatever we do, the result will be the
same...
I' ll try to load it and then I 'll contact again.
