No joy. I'm sure this is because my X-Fi isn't identified by EDGE (The log confirms this) for some reason and that it's trying to fall back on DirectSound for sound and failing because it was removed from DirectX 10.

weren't any changes (or only trivial changes) to
the sound code since the last binary I sent you.
In the Sound Options menu, you can change the
sound settings (sample rate, bits, stereo) that
EDGE tries to set during startup. Maybe your
current settings just don't work. You'll need
to quit EDGE and restart for the new setting to
take affect.
Failing that, please post the EDGE.LOG file.

I have discovered a solution to the problem. Atleast for the final version of 1.29. Simply right click the .exe or shortcut, go to compatability, and use the compatability feature with Windows XP Service Pack 2.

First thing to try is installing the latest OpenAL
driver from Creative's website, here:

If it still doesn't work, please post your EDGE.LOG
file here.
For what it's worth, EDGE RC#5 should be out soon,
and it has new sound code (no longer using OpenAL).

Weird, according to your EDGE.LOG OpenAL is being
initialized without any problem, just that there
is no sound.
One more thing you can try: run EDGE with the -bestaudio
option (from the command line).
