#77 MIDI playback within app not working

I opened easy abc today to re-transcribe some tunes. When I went to playback the music, I got the error detailed in the attached images. Worked fine a week ago. i have tried reinstalling to no success.

Attached images also show the messages tab, the temp midi file the error is eluding to, and that same file playing inside another MIDI playback program.

OS: Windows 11

hello, fixed.

I had, separately, uninstalled completely the legacy version of Windows Media Player while cleaning up my computer.

i was unable to add this back using the usual methods in settings or control panel.

I had to use PowerShell to run the following command to reinstall it.

Add-WindowsCapability -Online -Name Media.WindowsMediaPlayer~~~~0.0.12.0

this restored playback capability in easyABC. i have no idea why.

I normally use Linux but I occasionally test the changes I make to EasyABC on Windows, now, Win 11. I've never had WMP installed: I use fluidsynth.

It's a while since I set up this Win 11 machine (and I transferred some stuff from Win 10). In case you want to try it, here are some notes I made at the time:

Downloaded fluidsynth for windows from here
https://github.com/FluidSynth/fluidsynth/releases/tag/v2.4.2

Created dir easyabc/bin/fluidsynth and copied into it the contents of bin in that zip file

Downloaded FluidR3_GM.sf2
put it in easyabc/sound and entered the path in settings

Plays OK. No fluidsynth warnings

In Settings > files > SoundFont I have
C:\Users\Lenovo\Documents\easyabc\FluidR3_GM\FluidR3_GM.sf2

I'm not using the version of EasyABC packaged on Sourceforge, I run the python source from github. That might make a difference, but I don't think it will.
