On OS X, there are problems at the beginning of playback. For example, in a simple single voice tune, the first note is not played. The only time this problem does not happen is if a previous playback was stopped within the last second or two.
I believe this is fixed in current versions. Please let us know which version you discovered the problem with.
This quirk is not fixed, and the problem is in the built in MIDI player for the Mac. It has been reported to Apple.
If you check the box Count in in the Settings/Abc Settings/Abc2midi then the music should begin with 2 bars of metronome clicks. This may help.
This feature is available in version 1.3.6.4
