I have been running v1.3.8.7 on a Dell Win11 workstation for about two months with no trouble. Two days ago, completely out of the blue, it began to crash when I tried to save a file. Subsequent experiments determined that this happened any time the Windows Explorer dialogue box was called (viz., to open a new file or save a file with a specific name/location), but not if that box wasn't called (viz., to save an existing file or close an already-open file). I tried removing and re-installing the app, re-installing the previous version (1.3.8.6), and clearing the cache, none of which solved the problem. Finally, I also have a Win11 laptop with easyABC which does not exhibit this problem...therefore, there is apparently something about my desktop configuration causing this problem, rather than some bug (that's why I did not create this post as a ticket). Unfortunately I have no clue what that might be, nor why it suddenly appeared. My last (automatic) system security update occurred on 1/22, but this problem did not crop up until 2/5, and I have made no other changes to the system configuration (not on purpose, at least!). If anyone has any ideas about this I'd be immensely grateful for input.

Dave--thanks much for your suggestions! Well I tried resetting the MS Store cache. Then I logged out of OneDrive. Then I unlinked my OneDrive account from the PC. In all cases, easyABC would blow up if I asked it to do anything involving the Windows Explorer dialogue box. Oh, and I also tried opening .abc files using Notepad, then saving them again, and (of course) that worked just fine. So, all good ideas, but no dice. :\
If you (or anyone?) has any more thoughts about possible causes, fixes, or work-arounds, of course I'll try them. I might just have to wait until Microsoft's next (?) update...but at least I can perform all the usual operations on my laptop version (...running the same version of Win11, Windows Defender, OneDrive, everything else, as my desktop, don't forget...). So life will go on. Obviously this not a widespread problem for easyABC users or more of you would have chimed in by now...although in some respects that makes this situation all the weirder (viz., why doesn't my own laptop do the same thing, for pete's sakes...??).
Cheers, ~JL

I suspect this is a problem with the Jan 26 Windows update, which seems to be causing similar problems. This, for example, seems to be connected to MS accounts:
https://www.techradar.com/computing/windows/windows-11s-2026-goes-from-bad-to-worse-as-two-new-bugs-cause-havoc-crashing-apps-but-there-are-possible-fixes
I don't use Windows much but ISTR that, by default, it starts by trying to save to OneDrive, which might involve your MS account if you have one.
Does the problem occur if you save the same .abc files using another program - notepad, say?
Just guessing!

There is, I read, a Windows Explorer Cache. Try clearing that.
