I believe you're having a user error. >From the dmesg output you have a very old driver loaded from an insecure and out of date version of RHEL4 (no service packs) You also apparently did not follow my instructions, which is a little frustrating. Specifically you didn't rmmod e1000 before trying to load the new one. You need to load the new driver that you just built (e1000-7.1.9) which means you must rmmod the old driver and modprobe/insmod the new one.
