Hi All, I am something of a Linux newbie so I apologize in advance if I am posting to the wrong list or asking an easy question. I successfully used version 6.3.9 of the e1000 driver on Fedora Core 4 for many months and just upgraded the system to Fedora Core 5. I updated the kernel to the latest update and am now running kernel version 2.6.16-1.2096smp. I downloaded the latest version of the e1000 driver (7.0.38) and successfully built and installed it. When I perform a modprobe to install it I see the following message: FATAL: Error inserting e1000 (/lib/modules/2.6.16-1.2096_FC5smp/kernel/drivers/net/e1000/e1000.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown paramter (see dmesg) dmesg reports: e1000: Unknown parameter 'irq' I am sure I have done something wrong but the cause of the problem is beyond my current knowledge levels so I was hoping someone might have some ideas for me to try out. Thanks very much Neal |
