Hi, I have already submitted bug 1234566 in Sourceforge but got no response. I have a Compaq Deskpro (business desktop) which has an integrated Intel NIC, using the e100 driver. WOL does not work with Fedora Core 3 (I have tried various ways to shutdown the machine but none of them worked). WOL does work if I pull out the power cord and plug it back in. This is how I can prove my network setup and Magic Packet. To isolate the problem to Fedora 3 and/or the e100 driver, I installed Windows XP Home. After shutting down WinXP, WOL works fine. This proves something in Fedora 3 or e100 is disabling WOL. I upgraded my kernel to 2.6.9.12 and WOL still did not work. I downloaded the source for e100-3.4.14 and WOL still did not work. I edited the e100 source code to comment-out all the calls to e100_hw_reset() and WOL still did not work. I am not familiar enough with kernel drivers so I did not know the next step to try. Do you have any brute-force ideas to start with then we can isolate the specific function call in e100 which disables WOL? Thanks, Jared |
