[E1000-devel] Backport e1000 v5.x to kernel 2.2

Hi list

Because I experienced system lock up with the stock driver in kernel 2.2.18, I wanted to try newer driver.

Intel's website says 4.x series has been in suspended mode and 5.x series is only for kernel 2.4 and above. Is it possible to backport 5.x to kernel 2.2? Any technical issues that one must address in order to do so?
