Hi, I would also like to see these changes. This very problem has been quite a headache for me and I would strongly encourage you to put any fixes into CVS. I'd me more than happy to do some testing on them, if that would be helpful. Andrew. I modified the DynApi htmlmenu object to find all of the form elements, then do a bounding box check and hide any that the pull down menu would otherwise cover. It is enabled only for IE, and left alone for mozilla. Look here for how it works: http://www.bluewolverine.com/ffmgr/ff.cgi?mtab=-pl;stab=allplyrstats; --- Jesse Vitrone <je...@6t...> wrote: > Sorry for the off topic post, but I figured if anyone would be able > to > answer my question, it'd be you guys. > > I have a dhtml menu that I'm using, but when it expands, it goes over > a > select dropdown, and in IE, the dropdown just shows right through the > > layer. in IE you may indeed put a form element into a layer, then hide the layer.. unfortuanly that will not work in NS 4x ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jesse Vitrone" <je...@6t...> To: "dynapi help" <dyn...@li...> Sent: Tuesday, March 30, 2004 8:15 AM Subject: [Dynapi-Help] Off Topic: DHTML menu going over dropdown > Sorry for the off topic post, but I figured if anyone would be able to > answer my question, it'd be you guys. > > I have a dhtml menu that I'm using, but when it expands, it goes over a > select dropdown, and in IE, the dropdown just shows right through the > layer. Sorry for the off topic post, but I figured if anyone would be able to answer my question, it'd be you guys. I have a dhtml menu that I'm using, but when it expands, it goes over a select dropdown, and in IE, the dropdown just shows right through the layer. I was under the impression that there was nothing that could be done about that, until I stumbled across this page: http://www.milonic.com/menusample14.php Any idea how they're doing it? Most of their javascript code is compressed, so it's hard to tell what's going on. Looks like it has something to do with the dropdowns being on a layer, and then they hide part of the layer, but I'm not really clear what's going on. Work won't pay for these menu's, so I was hoping to figure out what they're doing, and integrate it into the menu's that we're currently using. Thanks in advance, Jesse |

Mina, First - sorry, I misread your first email, I thought you said that the line with "new DynAPIObject" did not exist, but now I see you said that it does exist. Now that I think about it, the problem probably isn't in your file, but in the source code. There are some places in the dynapi source code that don't have a semi-colon at the end of the statement. When it gets compressed, everything gets put on one line, and if there is a semi-colon missing, everything gets all screwed up. You're probably getting the error saying that there is no dynapi object because there were errors when the js file is included. Take a close look at all the errors that Mozilla is giving you, it should give some clues as to where the semi-colon is missing. Can you post all of the errors that you're getting? What version of dynapi are you running? The one from CVS? If you find a place in dynapi that is missing a semi-colon, let me know, and I'll fix it and commit it. Mina, Just from eyeballing it, the compressed file looks ok. I think I need to see more than just the compressed js file. Hi! I've used the Java Compressor to compress some javascript files using the jsCompressor.xml file (see below). Everything seems to work fine. The result is one single js file. However, when I try to use it I get an error (both in IE and Mozilla Firebird). It seems as if there are no dynapi object (!?). I've checked the js file for the text "var dynapi=new DynAPIObject()" and it does exist... I don't have a clue of what's wrong. IE and Firebird doesn't give me much help... Has anyone succeeded in using the Java Compressor??? Thank you for your help. Here is the jsCompressor.xml file that I use <jscompressor> <compressed-file name="C:\dyn.js"> <input-file name="C:\js\src\dynapi.js"/> <input-file name="C:\js\src\api\event.js"/> <input-file name="C:\js\src\api\dyndocument.js"/> <input-file name="C:\js\src\api\dynlayer_base.js"/> <input-group> <input-file name="C:\js\src\api\dynlayer_ie.js" compare-value="dynapi.ua.ie" /> <input-file name="C:\js\src\api\dynlayer_dom.js"/> </input-group> <input-group> <input-file name="C:\js\src\api\mouse_ie.js" compare-value="dynapi.ua.ie" /> <input-file name="C:\js\src\api\mouse_dom.js"/> </input-group> <input-file name="C:\js\src\api\ext\dynlayer.inline.js"/> </compressed-file> </jscompressor> This is the output from the program: C:\java.compressor>java JSCompressor ---- Compressing Files ---- -- Using configuration found in jsCompressor.xml Line separator: -- Compressed File Summary: output file name: C:\dyn.js input file names: C:\js\src\dynapi.js C:\js\src\api\event.js C:\js\src\api\dyndocument.js C:\js\src\api\dynlayer_base.js input group: C:\js\src\api\dynlayer_ie.js C:\js\src\api\dynlayer_dom.js input group: C:\js\src\api\mouse_ie.js C:\js\src\api\mouse_dom.js C:\js\src\api\ext\dynlayer.inline.js C:\java.compressor> |

It seams like I wasn=92t able to ask what I wanted. And since I=92m = sending this email I=92ll ask other thing a bit more code releated below. 1. I=92m doing a onmouse event. I want to change the bg and border color and resize the layer. The problem is with the text. I wasn=92t able to center the text on the layer, TEXT-ALIGN: center; works great with the horizontal but VERTICAL-ALIGN: middle; doesn=92t work with the vertical. I=92ve been trying several options but none seam to work. Here=92s part of my CSS: .cssmenuoff { BACKGROUND-COLOR: #F0F0F0; BORDER-BOTTOM: #B3B0B0 1px solid; BORDER-LEFT: #B3B0B0 1px solid; BORDER-RIGHT: #B3B0B0 1px solid; BORDER-TOP: #B3B0B0 1px solid; FONT-FAMILY: Tahoma,Verdana,Helvetica; FONT-SIZE: 12px; COLOR: #000000; TEXT-ALIGN: center; VERTICAL-ALIGN: middle; azimuth: center; } .cssmenuon { BACKGROUND-COLOR: #B3B0B0; BORDER-BOTTOM: #F0F0F0 1px solid; BORDER-LEFT: #F0F0F0 1px solid; BORDER-RIGHT: #F0F0F0 1px solid; BORDER-TOP: #F0F0F0 1px solid; FONT-FAMILY: Tahoma,Verdana,Helvetica; FONT-SIZE: 12px; COLOR: #FFFFFF; TEXT-ALIGN: center; azimuth: center; VERTICAL-ALIGN: middle; } 2. I'll have several layers like this: var botao8 =3D principal.addChild(new DynLayer(null,19,310,112,25,null,true,2)); botao8.setClass ('cssmenu'); botao8.setHTML('links'); botao8.name =3D "botao8"; objStacker.add(botao8); The only dif is the name and the html. I can save the html on a small matrix outside, for example options[]. Since the name of my layers are botaoX, where X is a number how can I define this with s for cicle ( I'll do everything in one time )? for (var i=3D0;i<9;i++){ var botao[i] =3D principal.addChild(new DynLayer(null,19,310,112,25,null,true,2)); botao[i].setClass ('cssmenu'); botao[i].setHTML(options[i]); botao[i].name =3D "botao"+[i]; objStacker.add(botao[i]); var el =3D { onmouseover : function(e) { botao[i].setClass ('cssmenu2'); }, onmouseout : function(e) { botao[i].setClass ('cssmenu'); }, onclick : function(e) { alert ('click!'); } }; botao[i].addEventListener(el); } Basicaly I just changed botaoX, where X was the number os my layers, I just keep incrising the number for each one I wanted to create. But if this way was possible it will simplify things. Thanx, Ant=F3nio Godinho |

Hey there, DynAPI developers, glad to see you guys still going strong. Just wanted to let you know that the last versions of the widgets I created (slider, color picker and radio dial) for the the previous DynAPI are still available from: http://home.earthlink.net/~kendrasg/widget/ These versions are later than the ones in the archive for Richard's old site.
